A Problem That Won’t Go Away
Nursery owners and homeowners share one common problem
when it comes to landscape damage: DEER. Fairfield
County and Westchester County have some of the highest-density
deer populations in the United States, and every year
these animals cause more than $1 billion in residential
property damage.
Throughout the season, deer damage on private and
commercial properties is not only an aesthetic concern,
but moreover, a public health risk as Lyme Disease
threatens our region. The reduction in hunting and
natural predators and the growth of suburban areas
are factors contributing to the population explosion.
As forested areas diminish, deer begin to feed on landscape
material, better known as your beautiful planting beds
or well-manicured shrubs.
